St Patricks Worship

We believe God reigns as King over creation and we live a life of submission to God’s power and authority. Therefore, the only reasonable response is worship and thanksgiving. We have been graciously invited to co-labor alongside God in His Kingdom as stewards on earth and trustees of his abundant resources; we are committed to stewardship by being a people of worship and generosity, blessed to bless a world in need. (Genesis 1-3, Deuteronomy 10:21, 1 Chronicles 16:23-31, John 4:21-24)

We accept the cost of following Jesus and believe in the power of the Gospel to change lives, bring healing to wounded hearts, and reconcile relationships. We therefore are committed to growing in Christ’s likeness in all aspects of our lives. Led by the Spirit, we believe the most effective way to renew a broken world is to be disciples of Jesus who make disciples of Jesus. (Matthew 28:19-20, John 14:15-26)

Rooted

We are an orthodox Anglican Church in South Austin for South Austin. We are rooted in a historic faith, under the authority of the scriptures and apostolic teaching, and we adhere to traditional Anglican formularies as listed in the 2019 Book of Common Prayer. We are rooted individuals nourished by Scriptures, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. It is only in this rootedness that we can be transformed into Christ’s likeness (Jeremiah 17:7-8, Colossians 2:6-7, Ephesians 3:17-19).

Mission

We are a Eucharistic Community and we experience the hospitality and generosity of a loving God; He welcomes us, a people in need of grace, into His House, forgives us, instructs us, meets with us, and nourishes us with Word and Sacrament. Now filled, we go out into the world to bless a world in need. This is the center of Christian mission and worship. (Acts 2:42-46, Genesis 12:1-3, Matthew 25:42-46, Psalm 22:27)

  • St Patrick's Austin is a member of the Anglican Communion, which encompasses 85+ million people worldwide. Anglicanism originated during the English Reformation, but its roots extend back to the early Church, creating a unique blend of multiple Christian traditions.

    First and foremost, to be Anglican is to be “simply Christian” and yet the Christian faith is rooted in real history and tradition, and so Anglicanism is the particular way we live out and embody the Christian faith.

  • No. We are made up of individuals from a variety of Christian traditions who have all found “the Anglican Way” to be beneficial for their own spiritual lives. We welcome anyone who is actively seeking to grow into the likeness of Christ.

  • We have a membership class every fall (and spring if enough newcomers).

    This class teaches both what we believe at St Patrick’s and how we live out our common life together

  • We affirm the Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds; the 39 Articles of Religion; and the 2008 Jerusalem Declaration.

    We believe the Scriptures are God’s authoritative words to the human race, containing all things necessary for life and salvation. The Bible is foundational to Anglican worship, teaching, prayer, and personal devotion.

    We are also apostolic in that we willfully submit to the teaching of the faith handed down through apostles (Bishops) and we consciously maintain our association with the Church throughout all ages.
